Owning a shop

Shops for sale are empty with their doors closed. In front of the door there is a sale point: look at it to see the price and what the shop comes with, and press E twice to buy it. The money comes from the bank.

A new shop comes with a few pieces of furniture and no stock: you fill it yourself (see Restocking). By default a player can own one shop (Config.Ownership.maxPerPlayer).

State shops (mode = 'auto') are always open, full of products and restock by themselves. They cannot be bought. They are the shops of a city without owners, and the ones robbers can always visit.

Every shop has its own bank account. Card payments go there, and orders, furniture, salaries and fees are paid from it. Cash stays physically in the registers and the safe until you move it (see Cash and robberies). You can deposit and withdraw from the computer’s Till app.

In the computer’s Shop app:

  • Sell to the state: you get back part of the price (Config.Ownership.sellBack, 60 % by default) plus what is in the till. The shop goes back to being for sale.
  • Transfer to another player: choose a player nearby and a price (up to maxTransferPrice). They receive an offer and accept it. The shop, its furniture, its finishes, its stock and its account go with it.

Doors open and close like the real ones, and close by themselves after a while. While the owner renovates, the shop is closed to customers, with a sign on the door.
